The Elizabeth Lee Black School offers a range of educational program choices designed to help all children achieve their greatest potential. We offer educational programs that include:
Our school is specially designed to provide a highly structured classroom environment which allows children with significant disabilities to develop to their fullest. Each day the children participate in educational activities presented within a very predictable routine to confidently practice new skills. Each student's IEP directs their learning experiences, which integrate a variety of activities throughout the school day, to address their academic, behavioral and therapeutic needs.
All formal referrals are made by the parent's school district of residence. Please contact your school district about the formal referral process.
The American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (“ARP ESSER”) Fund requires that organizations receiving ARP ESSER make their plans for the use of these funds available on their website for public viewing. Click here to view the Elizabeth Lee Black School grant plan.
Technology is exponentially developing every year. And the best way to adapt to this technology is to be able to use it and learn from it. That is why we incorporate the use of iPads in the classrooms. It gives the students the experience of real life and up to date technology that is relevant to the real world. And we use certain apps that help with the development of our students, for instance speech development, and cognitive improvement.
Reimagining Activity: Featuring a high-definition laser projector, movement detection camera, multi-colored lighting system, and high-quality sound system, the Lü Interactive Playground can transform our gym into a theatre, a stage, a dance floor, and more.
Sparking Creativity: Students learn by doing, and a recent addition of new SMART Boards will allow students to touch the boards by using a finger, pen, or palm to write, draw, and respond to interactive lessons that help drive creativity and improve critical thinking skills.
Expanding Possibilities: Virtual reality technology helps create immersive simulations that provide a 3D look and feel. A new virtual reality set includes a mobile cart, headsets, and controller. Imagine taking a tour of the Statue of Liberty or the Pyramids of Giza without even being there! It’s possible now with virtual reality!
Fostering Inclusivity: ActiveFloor technology consists of a mobile projector, a movement tracker, and a white vinyl floor that becomes the perfect foundation for an interactive playing area. ActiveFloor incorporates movement into a lesson to allow students of all ability levels to enhance motor skills, sharpen focus, and develop team-building skills.
Driving Innovation: Poster printers are large format printers. And having one in our school is essential to our students’ creative development plan. Students can express their creative side by composing their own digital art or pictures they have taken and be able to print them and have them posted in the classroom to share.
