Parent Autism Support Group

Need someone to connect with?

Barber National Institute's Parent Autism Support Group meets the second Tuesday of the month from 6-7 p.m. at the Barber National Institute, 100 Barber Place in Erie. Sessions are free and open to the public.

December 10 meeting Guest:

Lori Marzka, regional trust liaison from Achieva will discuss financial planning and trusts for special needs children.

Childcare is available for parents while attending the support group.

Facilitated by Barber Behavioral Health Blended Case Manager, Robin Fox, the new group will give parents a chance to discuss various situations, approaches to behavior, coping techniques, and available community resources. The group will focus on relevant topics and will serve as a support network. The Barber National Institute believes this is perfect for parents, making it helpful for parents to adjust their family dynamics.

“The support group will provide families with an opportunity to talk about certain topics dealing with school, behavior, and medical assistance as well as dealing with a new diagnosis and understanding insurance services. We want children and parents to feel comfortable with new interactions,” said Fox. “The Barber National Institute welcomes any parent or guardian to this new group.  We hope that any parent that attends the support group gains knowledge, confidence, and makes new friends.”
