Families of children with autism or other special needs know that a trip to a shopping mall can be challenging—particularly around the holidays. Crowded stores, loud music, and long lines can make the experience especially difficult. The Barber National Institute sponsored a Sensory-Friendly Time with Santa for children with special needs on Sunday, Dec. 3, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the Millcreek Mall.

Shoppers can make a donation to the Barber Foundation with every purchase of "Embrace the Difference" jewelry, Adults in the Community Participation Program are learning new skills in a brighter, more comfortable and updated facility to meet their needs A $4.2 million renovation of our Adult Day Services building, at the foot of East Avenue, removed walls and updated the space with new lighting, electrical and heating and cooling systems and other features.
