October is the month we celebrate Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Young students returning to classes at the Barber National Institute had more to be excited about than just the start of a new school year. They would soon be greeted by the opening of a new playground specially designed for preschool and early grade students. Adults with autism, intellectual disabilities or other special needs often face unique dangers when they are out in the community or online. The Barber National Institute will offer a free presentation specially developed for adults to help them learn strategies for staying safe. Gov. Tom Wolf has declared a national Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week in Pennsylvania. This celebratory time period was established to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of thousands of direct support professionals in the commonwealth. Disability Employment Awareness Month
