New Obstacles Created For Barber Beast on the Bay

"In just about two months, hundreds of people will be filling Presque Isle for the unique obstacle course and race known as Beast on the Bay. The ten mile course is full of running along the beaches, trails, and through handmade obstacles at the peninsula. For the past few months, there's been around 25 obstacles being designed and constructed by a crew. The new obstacles will be tested before being used for the 4th annual event.

The aim of the overall race to attract 1500 people this year. About 800 are already registered through www.barberbeast.org for the September 10, 2016 event. More than $60,000 was raised last year, with all of it going to the Barber National Institute. The money helps serve the 4200 children, adolescents, and adults in the numerous programs at the BNI. An adaptive course will also be offered to adults who are physically and intellectually disabled, but all participants will finish at the same spot. The 2016 Beast will feature less running on the sand than in years past, and more in wooded area and trails. Obstacles will be found every half mile along the route."
