First Niagara Donates $20,000 for Preschool Scholarships
First Niagara Bank donated $20,000 through Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) to provide preschool scholarships. The scholarship fund is administered through the Barber National Institute and scholarships are awarded to qualifying families in the region.
"We would not be able to send our daughter to Pre-K if it wasn't for this program, due to a job loss in the household. It is a wonderful thing you offer. We think education is very important, especially early education," said Jessica Fisher, a parent of one of the preschoolers.
Through the EITC Program, businesses can earn a substantial tax credit while making contributions to innovative education services. In addition to the Preschool Scholarship Program, businesses can contribute to the School-Age Program, which supports children with disabilities and funds technology, adaptive equipment, and other services in the Elizabeth Lee Black School.
Businesses interested in making an EITC donation should contact Dr. Maureen Barber-Carey at 814-878-5903 or by email at MaureenBarberCarey@BarberInstitute.org.
