DSP Certification Congratulations
Congratulations to Kimberly Forrester for earning her DSP Certification! By earning your national certification, you've not only expanded your skills but also contribute to the high-quality care and support we provide to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
"I’ve learned a lot through this program; information about the history of disability, how society has historically treated individual with disabilities, as well as current terms and best practices. Through the written portions of the certification I have been able to reflect on past experiences supporting our individuals and examine areas where I need to improve and areas where I was successful in connecting with and supporting those in our programs," said Kim.
National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) has developed a national certification program for Direct Support Professionals. The certification program requires over 500 hours of educational training and is known for its powerful benefits to DSPs, the people they support and employers.
- DSPs benefit from learning and applying best practices and evidence-based skills and knowledge in the workplace.
- People receiving support from certified DSPs benefit from partnering with highly trained professionals who are committed to supporting them ethically and effectively through the skills they have mastered.
- Organizations who employ credentialed DSPs can provide stronger assurances of quality to people supported, allowing for funders to proudly market their employment of nationally certified staff.
