Record Donation Presented from All Star Game

Paul Foust, chairman of the City-County All Star Baseball Game, presented the largest donation in game history to the Barber National Institute. A check for $9,029 was presented to John Barber, president and chief executive officer of the Barber National Institute, at a news conference on May 5. The donation from the 2009 Game brings the total contribution from all of the games to more than $105,000.

“We are very proud of our long association with the Erie County Umpires Association that sponsors this event, and grateful for their support of our mission,” said Barber. “We encourage all sports fans to come and enjoy what is always a great game, and to cheer on the players from your favorite school. Your support helps ensure that Dr. Barber’s vision of hope and opportunity continues as we meet the needs of individuals and families in our community.”

The 45th Annual City - County All Star Baseball Game will be held Friday, June 18 at Jerry Uht Park. The best players from the region’s high schools will gather at 6:30 pm for opening ceremonies, with the game set for 7 pm. Again this year, all proceeds will remain in Erie County to benefit the more than 3,500 children and adults with disabilities served by the Barber National Institute.

Anyone wishing to support the game is invited to reserve a patron ad in the game program by calling 453-7661 or downloading the order form below.

Tickets for the All-Star game are $4 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens, and are available in advance at the Barber National Institute main offices on East Avenue and its campuses in Girard and Corry, as well as at the ball park on game day.
